About Jodhpur
Jodhpur was the capital of the Marwar kingdom and is dominated by Mehrangarh Fort on its rocky hill. Below the fort, the old city is a maze of lanes lined with houses washed in shades of blue.
The city works well as a base for the Thar Desert. Many of our routes pass through Jodhpur on the way to Osian and Jaisalmer, and it is also the home town of Rajasthan ki Yatra.

Mehrangarh Fort
Mehrangarh stands on a hill above the old city. Inside, the museum shows palanquins, howdahs, weapons and decorated period rooms. Walk to the ramparts for views over the blue rooftops.
Jaswant Thada
A white marble memorial built in 1899 for Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. It sits just below the fort, with a quiet garden and a small pond.
Umaid Bhawan Palace
A large sandstone palace completed in the 1940s. Part of it is a hotel and part is a museum, so you can see its Art Deco rooms and vintage cars.
Clock Tower & Sardar Market
The old-city market around the clock tower is the place for spices, textiles, bandhani and handicrafts. Go in the evening when the lanes are busiest.
Mandore Gardens
Mandore was the Marwar capital before Jodhpur. The gardens hold the stone cenotaphs of earlier rulers and a few old temples, and are a calm stop outside the city.
